HLTAID006 PROVIDE ADVANCED FIRST AID
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.The unit applies to workers who may be required to provide, coordinate and manage a first aid response across a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings. This training program is being provided on behalf of and monitored by International Skills Training Academy Pty Ltd, which is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO Number 3877).
In line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, this course covers a broad range of topics to enable participants to confidently manage emergency situations and provide advanced first aid response to a casualty. It meets all National requirements under the Work Health and Safety Regulations 2011 for first aide personnel in the workplace, and is suitable for members of the public seeking training in advanced first aid.
Our competency based training and progressive assessment approach aims to provide you with a total understanding of advanced first aid and a working knowledge of:
- Advanced principles and concepts underlying the practice of first aid
- Procedures for dealing with major and minor injury and illness
- Priorities of management when dealing with life threatening conditions
- Occupational health and safety requirements in the provision of advanced first aid
- Use of advanced equipment and techniques for patient management
- Evaluation of emergency scene and management of emergency personnel
- Infection control principles and procedures
- Chain of survival
- First Aiders’ skills and limitations
- Understanding of the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Rivers First Aid provides on site face-to-face training to ensure the most from your training experience, no online components required. Course duration is 2 days (14hrs) with flexible training option to meek the needs of the workplace. Course duration may vary depending on a number of circumstances including but not limited to the number of students in the course and their current skill level.
It is a requirement of this course that you are physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least two minutes with a CPR manikin placed on the floor. Students also require basic reading and writing skills. If you feel you are unable to meet this requirement please contact us for additional support information.
Students must be 14 years or older. Students under 14 years must provide written permission to attend the course from their parent or guardian.
There are NO other prerequisites or co-requisites for this competency unit. This unit incorporates the content of units:
- HLTAID001 Provide CPR
- HLTAID003 Provide First Aid
- HLTAID007 Provide Advanced Resuscitation
On successful completion of the course the participant will receive a National Statement of Attainment (HLTAID006 Provide Advanced First Aid) which is valid for three years. As per the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines HLTAID007 Provide Advanced Resuscitation component must be renewed every 12 months to maintain currency. This Statement of Attainment will be issued by International Security Training Academy Pty Ltd (RTO Number 3877).
